Well When I visit heritage sites of national importance with a long history behind them, I am really excited.  I feel the grandeur and elegance of the monuments.  But when I see the fading walls and the crazy writings on the walls and pillars, I feel sad.  I get upset about the group of youth who merrily with mischievous looks in their eyes write on the government and public property.  I am sure they think that their names will be famous or they did a great thing.

I will take a photograph of the writings.  Without disclosing, I will ask their names and take a photo of the students.  Later I will post on the social media and emails.  Definitely, this will cause awareness among many other students.  They will not do such a thing in future.  Those miscreants will learn about that and feel sorry, after being shamed among their friends.

Recently there was publicity on Indian media (TV too) for saving our own heritage.  I will write an article in the school magazine on that subject.  Further I will write a letter to the editors of some English and local language newspapers.

I will also write letters on this subject to my friends in other schools. They will spread the awareness among students in their schools.  During the annual celebrations and interschool meetings, we will display placards related to preservation of national heritage as well as behaving ourselves as good young citizens.

I think I will write a letter to the local archeology department office to take some action.  They could install CC cameras and during crowded hours watch over our monuments.
They should put some notices on the visiting places, showing photos of students being caught and humiliated for that.

I will request our school to include this topic in ASL speeches or essays.  There is also a national or world heritage day on 18th April.  During that time, I will write about our moral responsibilities and duties as the future young citizens.

Generally people travel on buses and trains before reaching the tourist locations.  So it will be good to paste posters not to spoil the beauty of our treasured monuments.  Awareness and right behaviour comes after some years, surely as Indian youth is getting more educated and more responsible.

It is our fundamental duty as per our constitution to protect India’s national heritage.  We must prove ourselves honest and law abiding citizens.  It is people of 1950 to 1980s who could do such things.

Now is the age of information technology and bringing name and fame to the country.  We must not spoil our own treasures, even a little bit.  If we could enhance and give publicity to the pride of Indian culture and architecture, then it’s good.  If not, we must not at least spoil it.
