Dear Diary:

I participated in the campaign against smoking. The campaign team visited many villages making villagers aware about the harmful effects of smoking. We had quite convincing Power Point Presntations, and documentaries with us that we played. The village heads helped us a lot. We covered 25 villages around our city. In villages the problem of smoking is quite serious. Almost 70% of the village elders smoke. We really had to work very hard to convince the elderly people that smoking is injurious to health. Our modus operandi usually consisted of collecting the elderly men and women of the villages and appeal to them to quit smoking. After seeing the presentations and documentaries, they would feel shocked and disillusioned about smoking. We obtained written confirmation from 500 elders who pledged to quit smoking. I felt really so proud to have participated in the campaign.
