Your friend has weak eyesight, he is unable to see the writing on the board but refuses to wear glasses.As a result he is not able to do well in his class assignments (i) How would you encourage him to wear glasses? (ii) What you would say to convince him?

I would tell him that if he doesn't wear glasses he would go blind in few years or days..and he may have many eye problems in future.

I would encourage my friend by saying that if he doesn't wear the glasses then his sight would increase and would lead to problems in future.Also I would suggest him to eat healthy food which may help him to reduce his sight.
