Dear River,

I know it’s tough and that everyday is filled with uncertainty. One thing is for sure, however, and that is the fact that you are not alone. I share in your feelings of anxiety. I miss being able to see people without fear. Many people are experiencing all of these strong emotions and I know how overwhelming it can become. In the face of hardship, we have to stay strong.

Strength can mean many things. It doesn’t mean you can’t be sad. It doesn’t mean you can’t cry. Being strong can be something as little as acknowledging your feelings, or pushing through a hard day but still getting up the next morning. Just know that you have made it this far. You are strong and there are always people who will listen to you.

If you ever do need to talk, know that you can always text “TALK” to Kids Help Line at 686868.

It's me

The development of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines is a huge step forward in our global effort to end the pandemic.

This is exciting news, but there are still some people who are skeptical or hesitant about COVID-19 vaccines. Chances are you know a person who falls into this category – maybe among your group of friends or in your family.

If you are unsure of how to approach conversations about vaccines with vaccine skeptics you know, you’re not alone. We spoke to Dr. Saad Omer, Director at the Yale Institute for Global Health, about the do’s and don’ts of navigating these difficult discussions.
