Your Physics book has a mass of 400g It is kept on a horizontal table. Taking g = 10m/s square, find the force ( both magnitude and direction ) exerted by the table on the physics book

solution: mass of physics book(m) = 400g= 0.4kg

g= 10m/s²

according to Newton's third law of motion every action has equal and opposite reaction.

force due book on table.

F= mg= 0.4×10=4N

in downward direction so the force on book by table is equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.

F=-F

table exert 4N force in upward direction.
