Friend A: I am so glad I participated in the mass literacy campaign held at our school.

Friend B: I also enjoyed being part of it. I enjoyed teaching some of the villagers.

Friend A: You know India can’t attain development until the mission of 100% literacy is achieved.

Friend B: I agree with you. Undoubtedly, according to the 2011 consensus India managed to achieve 73 % literacy, but still we are very far behind.

Friend A: We as a nation can’t achieve technological excellence until our country men are illiterate. Skill development can only happen if the people of our country are educated and busy doing research and development. And without literacy there can be no research and development.

Friend B: I agree with you. I am planning to join the literacy campaign in the summer vacation too.

Friend A: If you are joining, I will also join it. We will have so much fun teaching the villagers.

Friend B: I am so much excited about it.

Ram: The mass literacy campaign conducted by our school was both informative and an eye opener.

Shyam: I agree 100% with you. I enjoyed every bit of it.

Ram: It is so sad that many people around us do not know how to even write their name.

Shyam: I am happy I managed to teach at least 10 to 15 people do this in our neighboring village.

Ram: I taught 20 adults to write their name and about 30 kids to write the alphabets.

Shyam: All the villagers were really interested and cooperative. This made it easy to teach them.

Ram: That is true. Even I had my own apprehensions regarding this in the beginning. But, they put me at ease.
