Waste, Trash, Garbage, Junk, Rubbish.

They all said that, but we used them again.

For playing, for enjoyment, for valuing

For Doon Pubic School Trivandrum Sports Day Event on the 22nd of Nov 2019

We epitomized the Sustainability Goal with the Theme for our Sports Day “WASTE MANAGEMENT”

Brainstorming, Discussions, Browsing the internet, Scouring over Books and picking on colleagues brains - All led us to drop a pin on the most data-fancyboxevant and concerned problem of this age - WASTE

Someone’s Trash with Somebody’s Else’s Treasure And we did exactly that.

The Decorations were with Cut Plastic Bottles beautifully colored hanging through the arena and the newspaper with frills cut on them adorned the play area.

The Investiture Ceremony began with pipping in the House Badges to the Respective Captains by the Center Head investing them into the School Cabinet.

Right from Playgroup to 3rd Grade, we changed the concept of waste into treasure. We enforced the idea of waste segregation, incorporated it with Sports and the children had a learning with a blast. The Playgroup children came in fours on their Yoga mat as their tracks and crawled their way on the tracks collecting balls of newspaper trash and putting them in the trashcan.

The LKG children made us realize the importance of Water and to conserve them. They rallied with coconut shells to pour water from the bucket into a bottle.

The UKG and the Grades were working as House Teams with Gandhi, Milkha, Raman, Tagore, and all of the house mates were showing team spirit among them. The Brick Game obstacles while collecting trash along the way made a spectator special. The Grades also competed in segregating the 3Rs to understand with fun the different categories of the management.

The Captains took upon themselves for the Sack Race and they hopped and cleaned up the tracks along with the way. They made a lot of difference with being the pioneers and the leaders of this First Ever House competition.

The House Captains encouraged their participants at different levels along with their Teachers as their Mentors.

We were all tired with sweat running over the body but the one thing that was constant on us was the Smile and the feeling of Jubilation and Excitement even after the Event had ended. Nonetheless, we all partook in the Tug of War and Spoon & Egg race amidst loud cheering and applause from the students.

The Teachers and the House teams bonded together with the notion of sportsmanship and competitiveness. They all helped each other with enthusiasm and excitement, and made this Sports day a Grand Success
