Answer:

we have to solve equation, z/2 + z/3 - z/6 = 8

Taking LCM of denominators of (z/2), (z/3) and (z/6).

or, LCM of {2, 3, 6} = 6

now write each fraction in such a way that denominator of it will be 6.

i.e., z/2 = (3 × z)/(3 × 2) = 3z/6

z/3 = (2 × z)/(2 × 3) = 2z/6

z/6 = (1 × z)/(1 × 6) = z/6

now, z/2 + z/3 - z/6 is converted into (3z/6 + 2z/6 - z/6)

so, 3z/6 + 2z/6 - z/6 = 8

or, (3z + 2z - z)/6 = 8

or, (5z - z)/6 = 8

or, 4z/6 = 8

or, z = 12

hence, value of z =12
