What is the zero of a polynomial?

Any value of the variable which is present in the polynomial which makes the polynomial equals to zero after putting it at the place of variable is known as zero of the polynomial.

the number of zeros of the polynomial is always equal to the number of highest power that is degree of the polynomial.

Now,

4x + 12

4(x + 3)

This polynomial only become zero iff

This polynomial only become zero iff x + 3 = 0

This polynomial only become zero iff x + 3 = 0⟹x = -3.

So,

Zero of the given polynomial will be -3.

Verification;

For x = -3.

p(x) = 4 × (-3) +12

=-12 + 12

= 0 .
