Zimbabwe is not considered a democratic country because it has a mono-part system where elections are always won by ZANU. The Zimbabwe African National Union was a militant organisation that fought against the white minority government in Rhodesia, formed as a split from the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU). ZANU won the 1980 elections under the leadership of Robert Mugabe, and seven years later merged with Joshua Nkomo’s ZAPU to form ZANU-PF.

Zimbabwe is not considered a democratic country because:-

  • In Zimbabwe Election held regularly but ZANU-PF party always won the election.
  • Since the party won the elections continuosly it's leader Mugabe was the President of the country.
  • President Mugabe was popular but he used unfair practise in the elections.
  • There have been a lot of human right abuses in Zimbabwe.
  • TV and radio is controlled by the government and give only the ruling party's version.
