ZnS or zinc sulphide is an inorganic compound that contains a cation- zinc( Zn2+) and an anion- sulphide(S2-).

In nature, zinc oxide is used to scavenge or remove hydrogen sulphide impurities from natural gas.

The reaction is as follows:

ZnO + H2S----ZnS + H2O

In laboratory, a mixture of zinc and sulphur is ignited to form the compound.
