0.3x + 0.5y = 0.5

Multiply by 10 both sides:

==> 3x + 5y = 5 ...(1)

0.5x + 0.7y = 0.74

Multiply by 10 both sides:

==> 5x + 7y = 74/10 ...(2)

Again,

Multiply (2) by 3 and (1) by 5

==> 15x + 25y = 25 ...(3)

==> 15x + 21y = 111/5 ...(4)

Subtract (3) from (4)

==> 15x + 21y - 15x - 25y = 111/5 - 25

==> -4y = -14/5

==> y = 14/20

==> y = 7/10

Substitute value of y in (1)

==> 3x + 5y = 5

==> 3x + 5×7/10 = 5

==> 3x + 7/2 = 5

==> 3x = 5 - 7/2

==> 3x = (10-7)/2

==> x = 1/2

Hence, Value of x is 0.5 and value of y is 0.7
