Mass of boron as given = 0.096 g

Mass of oxygen as given = 0.144 g

Mass of sample as given = 0.24 g

∴ Percentage of boron by weight in the compound = (0.096 ÷ 0.24 ) x 100 = 40%

∴ Percentage of oxygen by weight in the compound = (0.144 ÷ 0.24) x 100 = 60%

Answer:

mass of carbon= 0.192g

mass of oxygen= 0.2888g

mass of the sample= 0.48g

percentage composition of carbon= 0.192 divided by 0.48 * 100

0.192 ÷ 0.48 × 100

192/1000 × 100/48 × 100 (removing decimal point and dividing)

1920/48 (by cancelling)

=40%

percentage composition of oxygen= 100% - 40%

                                                          =60%

you're welcome :)
