1+2=21,  2+3=36, 3+4=43, 4+5=58

The sequence is deciphered in this way.

For the odd terms in this sequence,

  • The digits which are added are just reversed (which is opposite to the order they are added) to get the required number.
  • Eg. For the first term, 1 and 2 are added, the digits are thus 1 and 2, when we reverse them, we get 21, the first term.
  • Likewise, for the third term, 3 and 4 are added, the digits are thus 3 and 4, when we reverse them, we get 43, the third term.
  • So, for the odd term the series is in accordance to that stated above.

For the even terms in the sequence,

  • The digits which are added are just reversed (which is opposite to the order they are added) to get a number (similar as before) then this number is added to 4 to get the final required number.
  • Eg. For the second term, 2 and 3 are added, the digits are thus 2 and 3, when we reverse them, we get 32 and then add 4 to it to get 36, the second term.
  • Likewise, for the fourth term, 4 and 5 are added, the digits are thus 4 and 5, when we reverse them, we get 54 and then add 4 to it to get 58, the fourth term.

  • Thus, the missing term is 58.
