1. A lump of ice falls from an aeroplane as it comes in to land. If the ice hits the ground
with a vertical speed of 70m/s, what was the height of the plane when the ice fell off.

speed= 70 m/s

acceleration due to gravity (g): 10m/s2​

final speed= 0 m/s  [ as it has come to rest ]

a= (v - u)/t

10=  (70-0)/t

t=70/10 == 7 seconds

now speed = distance/time

=> 70 = distance / 7

so distance = 70 *7 = 490 metres
