2)The probability of selecting a rotten apple randomely from a heap of 900 apples is 0.18.What is the number of rotten apples in the heap?

1 )  as the prefix states "prop", the chain has 3 carbons.
suffix as "one" states ketone functional group.
so draw 3 carbons and put a double bond oxygen for the middle carbon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 ) probability P (E) =     favourable outcomes
                                       -----------------------------
                                           total outcomes

probability = 0.18
total  = 900
let number of rotten apples be "x"

substitute them in the formula we get,

0.18 = x/900
x = 0.18 * 900
x = 162.
thus number of rotten apples = 162

hope it helps!!

Hi Dear ^_^
________________________________________________
1) Propanone = propane + ketone group
propane + suffix (one) of ketone group form propanone
propane has 3 carbons 8 hydrogens
but when functional group O come between C1 and C3
we have 3 Carbons and 6 hydrogens and one O
so, formula of propanone is C3H6O

2) Probability of  rotten apple in heap is 18/100
that is rotten apples are 18 % of total apples
and total apples are already = 900
so, ATQ 18 % of 900 = 18/100X900 = 162 apples
