Solution:

Let the four numbers be x-1 ,x, x+1 and x+2.

From the question,

Given that the sum of four consecutive numbers is 78.

Implies,

(x-1)+x+(x+1)+(x+2)=78

=>x-1+x+x+1+x+2=78

=>4x+2=78

=>2(2x-1)=78

=>2x-1=39

=>2x=40

=>x=20

Now,

The numbers are in the form x-1,x,x+1 and x+2.

So,the numbers are 19,20,21 and 22.

Answer:

let the four no. x-1,x,x+1,x+2

(x-1)+(x)+(x+1)+(x+2) = 78

x-1 + x + x+1 + x+2 = 78

cut the no. -1 and +1 cut them

4x + 2 = 78

4x = 78 - 2

4x = 76

x = 76/4

x = 19

x-1 = 19-1 = 18

x= 19

x+1 = 19+1=20

x+2= 19+2=21

So, the four consecutive number is 18,19,20,21 .
