1) Find the total thrust acting on the bottom surface of a tank 4m long, 2m broad and 2m deep when fully filled with water. The density of water= 103 kg/m3.

length of tank, l = 4m
width of tank, b = 2m
depth of tank , h = 2m

so, volume of tank , V= volume of cuboid = l × b × h
= 4 × 2 × 2 = 16 m³

density of water , \rho = 10³ kg/m³

and acceleration due to gravity , g = 10 g/m²

total thrust on the bottom surface of the tank = V\rho g

= 16 × 10³ × 10

= 160000 N
