Modification itself happens for the benefit of plants in a way like :-
1. Spines - It is the long, pointed green (green.. so that it can carry out photosynthesis process) structure which protects plants from grazing of herbivores.
2. Tendrils - They are slender and coiled structure which helps the climber plants to climb, it is the modification of stems, petiole or leaf.
3. Scales - They are also called cataphylls. In this leaves are hard and scaly which protects the plants by covering their vegetative buds.
