Answer:

1)The five basic types of chemical reactions are combination, decomposition, single-replacement, double-replacement, and combustion. Analyzing the reactants and products of a given reaction will allow you to place it into one of these categories.

2)When two or more reactants combine with each other to form a new product it is called as combination reaction.  Combination reaction is also known as synthesis reaction.  For example hydrogen gets combined with chlorine to from hydro-chloride.

3)A decomposition reaction can be defined as a chemical reaction in which one reactant breaks down into two or more products.

General Reaction Format

The general format of a decomposition reaction is provided below.

AB -> A + B

Where AB is the parent molecule (reactant) and A & B are the product molecules.

4)Decomposition: A substance breaks down to smaller species. [e.g. CaCO3(s) → CaO(s) + CO2(g) Decomposition of limestone to calcium oxide (quicklime) and carbon dioxide on heating.]

5)

Reactions in which many reactants combine to give one product are called combination reactions whereas, in decomposition one reactant breaks down in many products.
