I assume you are talking about transcribing.

When you transcribe a file you may come across few words that you cannot hear, such as foreign language that you may not understand or someone or something being interrupted by the other voice or overlapping speech. In such cases you have to mention the same with time-code in the format hour:minute:second.

For example, if the word, or sentence is not audible, just mention it as the following: [inaudible 0:14:26].
