When corboxylic acid reacts with ethanol in presence of conc. Sulphuric acid, then a fruity smelling compound is formed which is called ester and the process is known as esterification.

CH3COOH + C2H5OH ----------> CH3COOC2H5 + H20 or CH3COOCH2CH3

In short,
Ester is formed.
The process is known as esterification.
The compound formed will have a fruity smell.

Hope it helps.
Thank you.

Krishna2456: Sakshi but in the product water will be there
