Q.32- A fraction becomes
1/3 when is subtracted from the numerator and it
Becomes 1/4 when 8 is added to its denominator. Find the fraction.​

Let the numerator be x and denominator be y.

therefore fracture = x/y

now according to question

x-1/y = 1/3 == 3x-3=y

3x-y=3 ---(1 equation)

x/y+8=1/4 == 4x= y+8

4x-y =8----(2 equation)

now subtracting equation 2 from 1 we have..

3x-y=3

- 4x-y=8

-x= -5

x=5

putting the value of x in 1 equation, we have..

3×5-y=3 == 15-y=3 ==15-3=y

therefore, y=12

Hence, the required fraction is 5/12
