1.  Frankfurt Parliament failed to unify Germany. It was opposed by aristocracy and the military and in the end is was forced to disband on 31 May, 1849.

2.  The new German Empire (comprising of all German states excluding Austria) was proclaimed on 18th January, 1871 at Versailles. It was proclaimed by the Prussian Chancellor Otto Von Bismark and Prussian King William was proclaimed German Emperor.
