1.Cations are always smaller than parent atom because cations are formed by loss of electrons so, protons are more than electrons in an atom so electrons are strongly attracted by the nucleus and a pulled inwards hence the size decreases .....

2.K is greater because it is lower in periodic table than Na....

3.Names of three elementary particles of an atom are -
proton (positively charged)
neutron (neutral)
electron (negatively charged)

4.Rutherford used only gold foil because-

Gold metal is malleable...
Gold atom is heavier when compared to other such malleable metals and hence would not be much affected by the chcharged alpha particles and scatter them to a good extent .
