Solution :

Given numbers are 10 , 35 , 40.

Finding HCF by prime factorisation

method :

10 = 2 × 5

35 = 5 × 7

40 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 = 2³ × 5

HCF = 5

[ product of least powers of common

prime factors ]

Division Method :

10 ) 35 ( 3
*****30
_______
*******5 )10(2
**********10
___________
************( 0 )

Therefore ,

HCF( 10,35 ) = 5

Now , we have to find HCF ( 5, 40 )

5 ) 40 ( 8
****40
_______
*****( 0 )

HCF( 5 , 40 ) = 5

THEREFORE ,

HCF( 10, 35 , 40 ) = 5
