This is caused due to the refracrion of light. The bending of light when it passes from one medium to other medium the stick seems to be bended.when the light enters from rarer medium(air) to denser medium(water) it bends towards the normal.Due to the refraction stick seems to be bend when it is kept in a bucket of water.
