Step-by-step explanation:

10x^2 - 3x - 1 = 0

comparing the equation with ax^2 + bx + c = 0

we get, a = 10 , b = -3 & c = 1

(b/2)^2 = (-3/2)^2 = 9/4

10x^2 - 3x + 9/4 - 9/4 - 1 = 0

10x^2 - 3x + 9/4 = 9/4 + 1

(10x - 3/2)^2 = 9+4/4

(10x - 3/2)^2 = 13/4

taking square root

10x -3/2 =  √13/2 or 10x -3/2 =  -√13/2

x = √13 + 3 /20 or x = - √13 + 3 / 20
