12. Two lamps, one rated 100 W at 220 V and the other 200 W at 220V are connected (i) in series and (ii) in parallel to electric main supply of 220V. Find the current drawn in each case.

IN PARALLEL =   P1 = 100W  V1 = 220V   BY, P=VI   i1 = 3/11 A

                            P2 = 60W  V1 = 220V   BY, P=VI   i2 = 5/11A

                            THEN , TOTAL CURRENT = i1 + i2

                                                                          3/11A + 5/11A

                                                                           8/11A

                                                                           0.72A

IN SERIES =     TOTAL POWER = P1 + P2

                                                      100W + 60W

                                                      160W

                            BY, P=VI

                                   I = 160/220

                            TOTAL CURRENT = 0.72A

                                    HOPE IT HELPED....:)
