Given : digging a well of diameter 4m and 21m deep

embankment in the shape of circular ring of width 3m.

To Find :   volume of earth taken out of the well.

a) 236 cu.m b)264cu.m c) 255 cu.md) 278 cu.m

radius of outer ring.

a)2m b) 3m c) 4m d) 5m

area of outer ring

a) 55 sq m b) 66 sq m c) 75 sq m d) 85 sqm

height of the embankment.

a) 3m b) 2m c) 4m d) 6m

Solution:

Diameter = 4 m  => radius = 2 m

volume of earth taken out of the well. = π * 2²  * 21

π = 22/7

= ( 22/7)2² * 21

= 264 m³   or 84π  m³

Radius of outer ring = 2 + 3  =  5 m

height of the embankment. = 84π / π(5² - 2²)

=84π / 21π

= 4 m

area of ring = 21π   = 21(22/7) = 66 m²

If width of the embankment is 2m   then Radius = 2 + 2 = 4 m

height of the embankment. = 84π / π(4² - 2²)

=84π /12π

= 7 m
