Atomic weight of phosphorous = 31 and sulphur = 32

Given, weight of phosphorous = 1.24 and sulphur = 2.2 - 1.24 = 0.96

Empirical formula = (1.24/31) : (0.96/32)

                              = 4:3

So the formula is p4s3.

Hope this helps!
