• If 2/3 of a number is 20 less than the original number

TO FIND :-

• The number = ?

SOLUTION :-

Let the no. be x.

A.T.Q

⇒ 2/3 x + 20 = x

⇒ x = 2/3 x + 20

⇒ x = 2x/3 + 60/3

⇒ x = (2x + 60)/3

⇒ 3x = 2x + 60

⇒ 3x - 2x = 60

⇒ x = 60

Hence the required number is 60.

VERIFICATION :-

➵ x = 2/3 x + 20

Now put the value of x.

➵ 60 = 2/3 × 60 + 20

➵ 60 = 2 × 20 + 20

➵ 60 = 40 + 20

➵ 60 = 60

L.H.S = R.H.S
