Answer:

54/4

Step-by-step explanation:

If a : b = c : d are in proportion then a/b = c/d

i.e ad = bc

Product of extremes = Product of means

This is called cross product rule

2 : 4 : x : 27

4x = 54

x = 54 ÷ 4

x = 54/4

To find : the value of x .

Given ratio :  2: 4 = x : 27

Solution :

  • As we can see that in the given ratio of proportion one of the ratio is missing.
  • We know that , product of extremes = product of means
  • Here , 2 and 27 are extremes whereas  4 and x are means .
  • Therefore , substituting values in above formula we get ,

      2\times 27 =4\times x \\54 = 4x\\x =\frac{54}{4} \\x = 13.5

 Hence, value of x  is 13.5 .
