2. A playground is 60 m 50 cm long and 39 m 50 cm wide. Find
(i) the cost of levelling it at 2.20 per Square(ii) the number of rounds about the ground a runner should take to run a race of 1 km?

Length = 60.5m

Breadth = 39.5m

(i) Area of rectangle = L × B

= 60.5 × 39.5

=2389.75 m²

Cost of levelling = ₹2.2/sq meter

Cost of levelling 2389.75 m² =

2389.75 \div 2.2 = 1086.25

Therefore, ₹1086.25 is required. ans.

(ii) Perimeter of rectangle = 2 × (L + B)

= 2 × (60.5 + 39.5)

= 2 × 100

= 200 m

Rounds the runner will need to take = 1km ÷ 200m

1km = 1000 meter

= 1000 ÷ 200

= 5 rounds ans.
