A teacher gave a question to find the roots of the equation
{(x)/(x+1)} + {(x+1)/x}. Ravi and Ankit cheated from each other but
Sahil solved it of his own. Ravi said one of the roots is 3/2. Ankit said one
of the roots is -5/2. Sahil said this is not possible to find as the discriminant
is negative. Who's answer is correct and what moral value you get from it?

Given : A teacher gave a question to find the roots of the equation x/(x +1 )  + (x + 1)/x

Ravi said one of the roots is 3/2. Ankit said one  of the roots is -5/2.

Sahil said this is not possible to find as the discriminant  is negative.

To Find : Who is correct

Solution:

x/(x +1 )  + (x + 1)/x = 0

=>  x² + (x + 1)²  = 0

=> x²  + x² + 2x + 1 = 0

=> 2x² + 2x + 1 = 0

D = 2² - 4(2)(1)

=> D = 4 - 8

=> D  = - 4

D < 0

discriminant  is negative

Roots are not real

Hence Sahil is correct  that

this is not possible to find as the discriminant  is negative

SAHIL is correct
