Let the perimeter of the rectangle be 40-2=38m

Length=x

Breadth=1/3x

Perimeter=Length+Breadth

38m=x+1/3x

38=x/3+x

38=4x/3

3*38=4x

96=4x

96/4=x

24=x

Length=24m

Breadth=1/3*24=8m

Perimeter=Length+Breadth

38m=24m+8m
