Who were the clients during the rule of Delhi Sultans?
Answers
Answer:
Three types of taxes were collected: tax on cultivation, called 'kharaj', about 50% of the peasants' produce; tax on cattle; and tax on houses. Mongol attacks on the Delhi Sultanate increased during the reign of Alauddin Khalji and in the early years of Muhammad Tughluq's rule.
The authors of tawarikh used to write histories for the delhi sultans in the persian language in the hope of rich rewards from the kings. They wrote tawarikh to keep records of the merits and achievements of the sultans.
They were usually their clients. Slaves and clients were loyal to their masters and patrons. However, these slaves were not loyal to their heirs. Authors of the Persian tawarikh opposed the Delhi Sultans for appointing the “low and base-born” to high offices.
