Given :

Radius of circular path = 10m

Time taken by particle to complete half revolution = 5s

To Find :

Magnitude of average velocity of the particle.

Solution :

❒ Average velocity is defined as the ratio of displacement of body to the time taken.

  • It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.
  • It can be positive, negative or zero.
  • SI unit : m/s
  • CGS unit : cm/s
  • Dimension formula : [L¹T‾¹]

After completing semicircle, particle will be at diameter opposite position to the initial position.

Hence displacement of particle will be equal to the diameter of the circle, better to say 2r.

➙ Vav = Displacement / Time

➙ Vav = 2r / t

➙ Vav = 2(10) / 5

➙ Vav = 2 × 2

Vav = 4 m/s
