GIVEN

Steel loading ramps are used to load a lawn mower onto a truckbed 37.5 inches above ground. If the ramps make a 30° angle with the ground.

TO FIND

Find the length of the ramps in feet.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Let ΔABC represents the sgape made by Ramp and ground.

AB = 37.5inches.

Angle made by ramp with the ground = ∠ACB = 30°

In right angled triangle ABC

 \sin(30)  =  \frac{AB}{AC}

Also,

 \sin(30)  =  \frac{1}{2}

1/2 = 37.5/AC

AC = 37.5 × 2 = 75inch

Convert into feet.

75inch = 75 × 0.083 = 6.25 feet.

Hence, The answer is 6.25 Feet.
