 \frac{24 - 6y}{4 + 3y}  = 12 \\  \\ 24 - 6y = 12(4 + 3y) \\  \\ 24 - 6y = 48 + 36y \\  \\ 24 - 48 = 36y - 6y \\  \\  - 24 = 42y \\  \\ y =  \frac{ - 24}{42} \\  \\ y =  \frac{ - 12}{21}  \\  \\ y =  \frac{ - 4}{7}
