2x - (5x + 4) =  \frac{x}{2}  \\ 2x - 5x - 4 =  \frac{x}{2}  \\  - 3x -  4 =  \frac{x}{2}  \\ 2( - 3x - 4) = x \\  - 6x - 8 = x \\  - 8 =  x + 6x \\ 7x =  - 8 \\ x =  -  \frac{8}{7}
