Simplifying

2x + y = 8

Solving

2x + y = 8

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '-1y' to each side of the equation.

2x + y + -1y = 8 + -1y

Combine like terms: y + -1y = 0

2x + 0 = 8 + -1y

2x = 8 + -1y

Divide each side by '2'.

x = 4 + -0.5y

Simplifying

x = 4 + -0.5y

2x+y=8

put y=0

then 2x=8

and you can say that x=4

again put y=2

then after solving the equation x comes out to be 3

(x,y)--(4,0);(3,2)
