The missing term is -57

Solution:

Given series is:

3 , -1 , -9 , -25 , ? , -121

We have to find the missing term

Let us first analyse the given series

first\ term = 3\\\\second\ term = 3 - 4 = -1\\\\third\ term = -1 - 8 = -9\\\\fourth\ term = -9 - 16 = -25\\

Thus we can see,

Successive terms are found by subtracting 4 , 8 , 16 and next would be 32 and 64

Therefore,

fifth\ term = -25 - 32 = -57\\\\sixth\ term = -57 - 64 = -121

Now the complete series is:

3 , -1 , -9 , -25 , -57 , -121

Thus the missing term is -57
