The Mughal empire did not become stronger in the 18th century. In turn it started to decline due to the lack of proper and efficient leaders .

Emperors after Aurangazeb were not capable enough to control the massive Mughal empire. They fought among themselves and caused anarchy.Hence many states such as Hyderabad , Murshidabad , Awadh , etc started becoming independent which caused the Mughal empire to become weak.

Again , many foreign invasions caused even more disintegration.

Finally , the mighty Mughal empire ended when British declared the Bahadur Shah Zafar would be the last ruler and his heirs will only be considered as Princes but won't rule and Bahadur Shah Zafar was exiled to Rangoon where he died in 1862 , thus marking end of The Mughals.
