x= -1+y .......... (2)

then the value put in equation (1)

3 (-1+y)-5y= -1

-3+3y-5y= -1

-3 -2y= -1

-2y= -1+3

-2y=2

y= 2/(-2)

y= -1

then the value put in equation (2)

x= -1+y

x= -1+(-1)

x= -1-1

x = -2

so x= -2 , y= -1
