5x - y = 3.....................................2
now multiplying 2 in equation 2
3x - 2y = 5
10x -2y = 6

-7x = -1
now
x = 1/7
and y will be
5x - y = 3
5(1/7) - 3 = y
y = 5/7 -21/7
y = -16/7
hence x = 1/7
and y = -16/7[/tex]
