From eq(1), we have3x+2yx+y=1 ⇒3x+2y=x+y

⇒2x=−y⇒y=−2xSubstitute the value of y in eq(2), we get4x−2(−2x)x(−2x)=13

⇒4x+4x=−26x2

⇒26x2+8x=0

⇒2x(13x+4)=0

⇒13x+4=0

⇒x=−413and

y=−2(−413)

⇒y=8
