A covers 60 steps per hour

⇒ 1 hour = 60 steps

Find the number of steps that A covered in 15 mins:

1 hour = 60 steps

60 mins = 60 steps

1 min = 60 ÷ 60 = 1 step

15 mins = 1 x 15 = 15 steps

A is 15 mins ahead of B when B started his chase

Define x:

Let x be the number of hours needed for B to catch up with A

Solve x:

65x = 15 + 60x

5x = 15

x = 15 ÷ 5 = 3 hours

It takes 3 hours for B to catch up with A

Find the distance B covered in 3 hours:

1 hour = 66 steps

3 hours = 195 steps

Find the distance C covered in 3 hours:

1 hour = 60 steps

3 hours = 60 x 3 = 180 steps

Find the distance between C and B:

C = 180 steps

B = 195 steps

Difference = 195 - 180 = 15 steps

Answer: B is 15 steps away from C when B reached A
