y

Answer:

the answer is 7/18

Step-by-step explanation:

so let the numerator be x and denominator be y

from the first condition

denominator = 2( numerator) + 4

y = 2x + 4

-2x + y = 4 ...... equation 1

from second condition

( denominator - 6 ) = 12 ( numerator - 6)

y - 6 = 12( x - 6)

y - 6 = 12x - 72

- 12x + y = - 72 + 6

- 12x + y = - 66

12x - y = 66 ........equation 2

adding equation 1 and 2

-2x + y = 4

12x - y = 66

10x = 70

x = 70/10

x = 7

now, substitute x = 7 in equation 1

- 2x + y = 4

- 2(7) + y = 4

- 14 + y = 4

y = 4 +14

y = 18

hence required fraction is 7/ 18
