Let 1/x= A
So 4A+3y=14
3A-4y=23
Multiply equation 1by 4 and equation 2 by 3
16A+12y=56
9A-12y=69
Adding
25A= 125
A=5
Therefore 20+3y=14
3y =-6
Y=-2
And x=1/5
